Goldilocks & the 3 Diaper Bags

Once upon a time there was a mommy who was always looking of the diaper bag that was just right.

So what if it is my 3rd child and I've yet to find the perfect diaper bag?  I can completely rationalize that I have three, yes 3, diaper bags for Cora, all of which serve a specific purpose.

Let me share them because I love them and you should too.

Ju-Ju-Be Prepared
This bag is great quality but it is huge! It serves the better purpose of overnight trips to grandma's house at this point.  It really is just too big for me to be hauling around daily. Perhaps it's the 3rd time mom in me and I don't really carry that much gear daily. That said, again the quality is great and it is a great looking bag. There are several styles by the same company that I'm sure are just as good of bags. This one retails for $180 but I bought this secondhand so I don't feel too guilty about the splurge but it definitely isn't getting used as much as the others.
Vera Bradley Mom's Day Out
This bag I just found randomly when I was perusing the Vera Bradley outlet sale. I love this bag because it is a good transition for going back and forth between baby bag, mom bag. The size is perfect to accommodate a bottle, some snacks, travel diaper/wipe case and my wallet, even a small outfit for baby. Not much else I need besides that while out and about. This bag is lined to make it easy to wipe clean if something spills or crumbs get in it.  It comes in notorious Vera Bradley patterns, however I wanted black so it doesn't scream "I've got a baby". I feel comfortable carrying it around when I want to look like I am carrying a regular purse. It retails for $65, but again I got a deal.

Thirty-One Organizing Zip-Top Organizing Utility Tote
This tote above is my workhorse.  I use it all the time and I get compliments frequently on it. The straps are a perfect length for me. I love how when I toss it on the floor in the back seat it stays upright and sturdy for grabbing things I need. This little gem holds all of my newborn necessities from blankets to outfits, diapers, wipes, bottles, my clutch, and even stuff for my older boys. It is just one large compartment and I love that. This bag is super versatile for something so simple. I just can't put my finger on why it works so well but it does. In fact when I ordered this so did two of my coworkers. This tote retails for $35 and the link above is to my friend Kelli's page if you need a consultant.

Share with me your perfect diaper bag!

Note- all the opinions expressed in the post were my own and I was not compensated for any of them.

  1. I've been wanting a Ju Ju Be bag for a while. I might bite the bullet if/when baby #3 comes along ;)

I realized I never updated my Halloween Pictures.

My little guys were just adorable this Halloween and boy did they haul in the treats.

Alex dressed up as Spider Man for trick-or-treating at preschool and had a great time going around the classrooms getting goodies.

For actual trick-or-treating, Alex went as a fireman and Cameron went as his faithful companion, a dalmatian.  I have to pat myself on the back for decorating the wagon up as a fire truck.

I liked getting into the spirit of the season.  It is such a let down when the trick-or-treaters that do come around have no costumes or manners :(

Good thing I got this up before the next holiday!

Slow Cooker Buffalo Chicken

I love spicy Buffalo Chicken and this tasty recipe was a snap to make.

I found this on Pinterest originating from here but below is my own variation and recommendations.

3-4 Chicken Breasts (I used fresh)
Franks Red Hot Sauce (regular or buffalo)
Dried Ranch Dressing Mix
2-3 tbsp. butter

Place Chicken in Slow Cooker
Pour approx. 1/2 bottle of sauce on top
1/4 to 1/2 of the dressing mix.  (I used 1/2 and found it to be too salty)

Cook on low for 6-8 hours

Shred up the chicken, add more sauce or a little water if necessary, but the chicken will shred up perfectly.
Put butter on top for about 15 more minutes, stir and then serve

**I think adding a little cream cheese to this recipe also might be a nice addition, but I'd melt that in the slow cooker prior to adding the chicken**

This is so yummy and very versatile to serve with anything.  I especially love it mixed in a cool salad with a little ranch dressing.  With the Super Bowl coming up too this would be a…

Pirate Party Game - Ring Toss

Why didn't I think of this?!  I came across this from Hostess with the Mostess site, my go-to party planning inspiration blog.  What an awesome game and pretty inexpensive if you were a savvy shopper and picked up the pirate hooks for $1 at Target along with some swim diving rings also in the $1 spot.

This would've been perfect for Alex's 4th Birthday Pirate Party where we played "Pin the Hook on Captain Hook".
