34 Week Pregnancy Update

I've yet to post too much about this pregnancy because in all honesty it's gone very smooth and there hasn't been much to share.

Although with a little under 6 weeks left I suppose I should do some updating.

Let's See...

  • I had an ultrasound at 32 weeks because the doctor thought I was measuring bigger than she expected, turns out she was just about right on track weighing in just shy of 5lbs.  Doctor this week still said I'm measuring a little big, so she might let me have another ultrasound before her arrival.  I could care less about how "big" baby is and just like seeing her picture while I can.  I don't have little babies, I get it, but it isn't a big deal, no pun intended.
  • My heartburn isn't nearly as bad as it was a month ago, but Tums are still my BFF.
  • No cravings really except for ice water which is the lamest thing ever that a pregnant woman should be wasting calories (or lack there of) on.
  • I'm just now turning the corner where I drop something and give it a good stare contemplating just how much I really need it before bending over to pick it up.
  • The nursery has furniture in it, bedding is made, paint is up. Just a few finishing touches and I'll reveal it soon in a separate post.
  • I've journaled squat about this pregnancy.  Nada.  Gotta get my baby girl her own journal and start contributing to it.  Probably should update the boys too.
  • Weight gain was climbing pretty good there, but I've been steady with no gain for the past month...that can only mean that baby girl is taking it all on
  • No swelling, but swelling goes away.  Unfortunately I've got stretch marks and those suckers ain't going anywhere
  • I'm meeting with my long term sub this week and my observations are over for the year.  One more big work hurdle and I think I'll be set for baby girl to arrive whenever she'd like to.
  • My mood has been relatively calm and just going through day-to-day things, but anxiety occasionally sets in.  "OMG-3 kids!" "This baby girl will be a teenager someday" etc.
  • I've been on the hunt for the perfect diaper bag and have had no luck so far
  • I'm also at a very happy phase of "this is it, no more babies for me".  We'll see if that changes and if the womb ache everyone talks of that I could never shake before is officially gone.  I'm pretty confident it is.

I've got six weeks (hopefully under) left which I feel is kind of a cruel part of this journey.  You see, these next six weeks are going to feel like forever, and the first six weeks of her life are going to be the blink of an eye.  So unfair.

I realized I never updated my Halloween Pictures.

My little guys were just adorable this Halloween and boy did they haul in the treats.

Alex dressed up as Spider Man for trick-or-treating at preschool and had a great time going around the classrooms getting goodies.

For actual trick-or-treating, Alex went as a fireman and Cameron went as his faithful companion, a dalmatian.  I have to pat myself on the back for decorating the wagon up as a fire truck.

I liked getting into the spirit of the season.  It is such a let down when the trick-or-treaters that do come around have no costumes or manners :(

Good thing I got this up before the next holiday!

Slow Cooker Buffalo Chicken

I love spicy Buffalo Chicken and this tasty recipe was a snap to make.

I found this on Pinterest originating from here but below is my own variation and recommendations.

3-4 Chicken Breasts (I used fresh)
Franks Red Hot Sauce (regular or buffalo)
Dried Ranch Dressing Mix
2-3 tbsp. butter

Place Chicken in Slow Cooker
Pour approx. 1/2 bottle of sauce on top
1/4 to 1/2 of the dressing mix.  (I used 1/2 and found it to be too salty)

Cook on low for 6-8 hours

Shred up the chicken, add more sauce or a little water if necessary, but the chicken will shred up perfectly.
Put butter on top for about 15 more minutes, stir and then serve

**I think adding a little cream cheese to this recipe also might be a nice addition, but I'd melt that in the slow cooker prior to adding the chicken**

This is so yummy and very versatile to serve with anything.  I especially love it mixed in a cool salad with a little ranch dressing.  With the Super Bowl coming up too this would be a…

Pirate Party Game - Ring Toss

Why didn't I think of this?!  I came across this from Hostess with the Mostess site, my go-to party planning inspiration blog.  What an awesome game and pretty inexpensive if you were a savvy shopper and picked up the pirate hooks for $1 at Target along with some swim diving rings also in the $1 spot.

This would've been perfect for Alex's 4th Birthday Pirate Party where we played "Pin the Hook on Captain Hook".
