Besides a healthy baby, what do you want?

What?! How can I possibly answer such a selfish question? Ah, but I'm going to. I'm going to be honest with myself and all of you in the blogosphere.

I want a girl.

There I said it. Whew.

I have a certain family member of mine has expressed their desire for a girl and I'm offended by it and want to scream, as I say so often to my boys, "You get what you get and you don't throw a fit!"  But I am just as guilty of having a desire for a girl too.

Why is that so hard for me to admit? Oh wait, silly me, I know why...guilt. Gulp. You aren't supposed to chose right?

I LOVE my boys more than the moon and back, but I just want to give a crack at trying to raise a girl and all the insanity that surrounds it.

I know I'm crazy.  I mean I barely get my own ass out the door looking decent and I want to curse myself with someone who'll want their hair done too and probably fret over what to wear every morning just like I do.  But, if you know me, you know I *might* have the tendency to do things the hard way, and well what better way to bust in my chops than with trying to raise a girl.

I also would love to prove a handful of people wrong in my life who've uttered the phrase "I only see you as a mom of boys".  Um, WTF does that mean?  I take that comment personally when I hear it.  And I hear it a lot.  Still haven't gotten a straight answer yet, just usually "Um, uh, well, you know, uh, I uh, just see you with boys". Eyeroll.

I also blame Pinterest and commercialism for this desire.  Have you seen all the cute girl stuff out there!?! Not to mention that the store managers know what they are doing lining the aisles with girl clothing while I have to go back and dig my way through the racks to find the boys items.  I'm looking at you Kohls & Target!

Now I might eat my words with this soon enough, but I'm still thinking team BLUE but secretly wishing for PINK, but as always a healthy baby is always first and foremost.  I just think I needed to be honest with myself more than anyone else and get it off my chest.

And I'll be just as happy no matter what, and truth be told we never went for #3 trying to get a girl.

  1. I think it's only fair that you want a girl. If nothing else, it's new. You know how to raise a baby boy. You need a new challenge! :)

I realized I never updated my Halloween Pictures.

My little guys were just adorable this Halloween and boy did they haul in the treats.

Alex dressed up as Spider Man for trick-or-treating at preschool and had a great time going around the classrooms getting goodies.

For actual trick-or-treating, Alex went as a fireman and Cameron went as his faithful companion, a dalmatian.  I have to pat myself on the back for decorating the wagon up as a fire truck.

I liked getting into the spirit of the season.  It is such a let down when the trick-or-treaters that do come around have no costumes or manners :(

Good thing I got this up before the next holiday!

Slow Cooker Buffalo Chicken

I love spicy Buffalo Chicken and this tasty recipe was a snap to make.

I found this on Pinterest originating from here but below is my own variation and recommendations.

3-4 Chicken Breasts (I used fresh)
Franks Red Hot Sauce (regular or buffalo)
Dried Ranch Dressing Mix
2-3 tbsp. butter

Place Chicken in Slow Cooker
Pour approx. 1/2 bottle of sauce on top
1/4 to 1/2 of the dressing mix.  (I used 1/2 and found it to be too salty)

Cook on low for 6-8 hours

Shred up the chicken, add more sauce or a little water if necessary, but the chicken will shred up perfectly.
Put butter on top for about 15 more minutes, stir and then serve

**I think adding a little cream cheese to this recipe also might be a nice addition, but I'd melt that in the slow cooker prior to adding the chicken**

This is so yummy and very versatile to serve with anything.  I especially love it mixed in a cool salad with a little ranch dressing.  With the Super Bowl coming up too this would be a…

Pirate Party Game - Ring Toss

Why didn't I think of this?!  I came across this from Hostess with the Mostess site, my go-to party planning inspiration blog.  What an awesome game and pretty inexpensive if you were a savvy shopper and picked up the pirate hooks for $1 at Target along with some swim diving rings also in the $1 spot.

This would've been perfect for Alex's 4th Birthday Pirate Party where we played "Pin the Hook on Captain Hook".
