Congratulations, you'll always be unemployed!

Let me preface this post by saying that I know times are tough out there and I empathize greatly with those of you going through the tough employment times.  I know some of you might be unemployed, underemployed and that you are trying your hardest to make that situation change.

This post however is not for you.

This post is for people who need to get what I like to politely say need "a little pep in their step".  These people will remain unemployed unless they do these things. They will also continue to blame others and make excuses for their situation until they look in the mirror. Getting a job out there is hard enough without lacking some basic fundamental work skills.  These comments also pertain to any job, because those meaningless jobs just might be the stepping stone to a better job, so don't take that for granted.

My reasons for this poll come from my observations professionally and personally.  I just feel I need to get some things off of my chest.

If you haven't caught on in the real world yet, there are some things you might want to pay attention to.  These things shouldn't be "Ah-ha" moments for you.  They should be things that you have already known by the time you exit Middle School.
  • Show up --- when you are supposed to, ON TIME.  Don't come in late.  Don't call off because you frequently because you feel like you deserve it. Give me a break.  We all would rather sit home or frolic in the spring fields of flowers rather than work, but that isn't going to get the bills paid
  • Be Honest --- why would you break the ethics of lying?
  • Multitask
  • Be flexible
  • Have a sense of Urgency -- none of this "I'll get to it" shit.
  • "I'm right on top of that Rose" -- even if you aren't, sell it like you are doing your job.  But beware, it will catch up with you soon enough that you have been a slacker.
  • Be realistic -- not every person is cut out for every job.  Match your skills with the job you want, but you better have some determination about actually working
  • SAVE Money -- if you don't pay yourself first, you are doing some major disservice to yourself and those that love you.
Don't get me wrong, I love the movie Office Space, but that is not the kind of people that employers are going to want to hire.

Next time you might just be lucky enough to have me ramble on about "Living to work vs. Working to Live".

  1. I love your boldness! I tend to be pretty opinionated too and it's refreshing to see someone else who isn't afraid to blog this way! Stopping in from Kelly's and looking forward to reading more!

I realized I never updated my Halloween Pictures.

My little guys were just adorable this Halloween and boy did they haul in the treats.

Alex dressed up as Spider Man for trick-or-treating at preschool and had a great time going around the classrooms getting goodies.

For actual trick-or-treating, Alex went as a fireman and Cameron went as his faithful companion, a dalmatian.  I have to pat myself on the back for decorating the wagon up as a fire truck.

I liked getting into the spirit of the season.  It is such a let down when the trick-or-treaters that do come around have no costumes or manners :(

Good thing I got this up before the next holiday!

Slow Cooker Buffalo Chicken

I love spicy Buffalo Chicken and this tasty recipe was a snap to make.

I found this on Pinterest originating from here but below is my own variation and recommendations.

3-4 Chicken Breasts (I used fresh)
Franks Red Hot Sauce (regular or buffalo)
Dried Ranch Dressing Mix
2-3 tbsp. butter

Place Chicken in Slow Cooker
Pour approx. 1/2 bottle of sauce on top
1/4 to 1/2 of the dressing mix.  (I used 1/2 and found it to be too salty)

Cook on low for 6-8 hours

Shred up the chicken, add more sauce or a little water if necessary, but the chicken will shred up perfectly.
Put butter on top for about 15 more minutes, stir and then serve

**I think adding a little cream cheese to this recipe also might be a nice addition, but I'd melt that in the slow cooker prior to adding the chicken**

This is so yummy and very versatile to serve with anything.  I especially love it mixed in a cool salad with a little ranch dressing.  With the Super Bowl coming up too this would be a…

Pirate Party Game - Ring Toss

Why didn't I think of this?!  I came across this from Hostess with the Mostess site, my go-to party planning inspiration blog.  What an awesome game and pretty inexpensive if you were a savvy shopper and picked up the pirate hooks for $1 at Target along with some swim diving rings also in the $1 spot.

This would've been perfect for Alex's 4th Birthday Pirate Party where we played "Pin the Hook on Captain Hook".
